Release Blitz + Review: "Mister Know-It-All" by Amelie S. Duncan

Congratulations to author Amelie S. Duncan on today's release of "Mister Know-It-All," a standalone Cocky Hero Club novel inspired by "Stuck-Up Suit."

This is a tough review for me to write because I wanted to like this book so much more than I actually did. I think the biggest problem is that even though the book is marketed as a romantic comedy, IMO it was missing the fun, lighthearted, playful feel that I usually associate with rom-coms. Main characters Ford and Jasmine were actually dealing with quite a bit of drama and angst related to their families and past relationships, among other things. I don't mind an angsty/emotional read from time to time, but because that's not what I was expecting from this book, I wasn't in the proper frame of mind to appreciate it. Aside from that, I had a tough time connecting with either Jasmine or Ford. I especially disliked Ford, whose treatment of Jasmine often came across as overly controlling and possessive to me. (At one point, he even tried to dictate how she groomed herself!) It didn't help that there were so many different plot threads, and it was sometimes tough to keep track of everything that was going on.

Possibly as a consequence of the overly complicated plot, there were a number of story inconsistencies and/or things that just didn't really make sense to me. For example, Jasmine was in New York for a summer internship. It's rather warm in New York over the summer. However, there were several references to cool or cold weather, plus an entire scene involving Jasmine's scarf being left in Ford's car because she'd needed to "bundle up." I don't think she would have needed to worry about "bundling up" in May or June! In fact, it probably would have been the opposite.

While I can't say that this was a terrible book, it was definitely a bad match for me. Readers who enjoy age gap romances and/or broody alpha heroes may have better luck with it, however.

About "Mister Know-It-All"

What’s a girl to do when she discovers that her boss/boyfriend (I don’t need a lecture, thank you very much!) is a cheating windbag?
Dump him and quit her job, of course.
After that, it was supposed to be the Summer of Me—a totally self-indulgent few months.
Except that I met a drop-dead gorgeous Viking with a bossy attitude.
We clashed on his arrogance and crassness, but geek bonded over Star Wars and Star Trek.
He offered himself as a no-strings-attached candidate for my get-my-groove-back sex plan, and I left because he already had a girlfriend, even if they were on a break.
But I couldn’t stop thinking about him.
I really, really needed to find someone less complicated, but he infiltrated my thoughts.
He was hot, after all (and his towel might have slipped on purpose). Seriously hot.
No matter how many times I decided not to pursue anything with him, he kept showing a softer side of himself.
But we couldn’t keep going like that, neither here nor there.
Some decisions had to be made.
One that could change everything.
If someone had told me how my Summer of Me would end? I’d never have believed them.
But I regret nothing.

Mister Know-It-All is a steamy enemies to lovers romantic comedy inspired by Stuck-Up Suit.
