Release Blitz + Review: "Love Like Her" by Claudia Burgoa

I'm pleased to participate in the release blitz celebrating the publication of "Love Like Her" by Claudia Burgoa, book #3 of the Against All Odds series. It can be read as a standalone, but the timeline partially overlaps with that of the first two books, so readers familiar with the previous stories will enjoy the opportunity to gain additional insight and context on past events.

"Love Like Her" turned out to be more of an emotional rollercoaster than I was expecting as it explored the relationship between main characters Olivia Evelyn Sierra and Eros Brassard. They had an instant connection and fiery chemistry as soon as they met while waiting out a blizzard in an airport, but over the course of the following 10+ years, their relationship went through several different phases and the story took a number of unexpected twists and turns. What remained constant was Eros and Olivia's witty banter and strong emotional connection, though they never seemed to be in the right place to make a serious relationship work.

Just when Eros had given up hope that he and Olivia would ever be able to make a go of things, fate intervened to bring them back together in Eros's hometown of Denver. However, Eros had convinced himself that he was in love with his old college friend Misty in the interim, which led to a big misunderstanding between him and Olivia. This part of the story was frustrating for me because I thought Eros made some stupid decisions that complicated things between him and Olivia unnecessarily. If I'm being honest, the whole Misty subplot felt rather forced and awkward to me. While I would agree that Eros and Olivia needed a push to finally settle things between them, it never felt like Misty was important enough to justify such strong feelings on Eros's part. Up to that point, she'd only been mentioned once or twice in passing, but all of a sudden he was "in love" with her and was claiming that she had been his best friend for 18 years. If she was really such an important part of his life, shouldn't he have mentioned her more often?

At any rate, Eros and Olivia managed to work through all of the challenges they faced and ended up in a good place, which is fortunate because I loved the two of them together. Despite my frustrations with the story, ultimately I did enjoy it and would recommend it for all contemporary romance fans. (The second book of the series, which featured Eros's sister Nyx and her husband Nate, is still my favorite, however.) I look forward to Claudia Burgoa's next release!

About "Love Like Her"

Love Like Her by Claudia Burgoa is now live!

USA TODAY Bestselling Author Claudia Burgoa charms readers in this romantic comedy that's whimsical and fun.

Eros Brassard and I met at JFK years ago while trying to catch two different planes. We had an instant connection that was too powerful to deny. Love happened, and we hooked up.

After our crazy romp, we agreed we couldn't be together. We live too far away to make it work. Yet ever since, destiny has brought us together. Our paths have crossed so many times it's obvious fate has intervened in our lives.

But there's always something else--or someone else--getting in the way. Until now.

I'm hired to plan the wedding of Eros' best friend, Misty. He thought Misty was the one who got away... until I walked in.

Will circumstances push us apart again?

Or is it the perfect time... maybe... for us to finally admit the truth?
