Release Blitz + Review: "Didn't Expect You" by Claudia Burgoa

I am thrilled to participate in the release blitz celebrating Claudia Burgoa's latest novel, "Didn't Expect You," book #2 of the Against All Odds series. It mostly works as a standalone, but I discovered after I started reading that some of its events overlap with those of the previous book in the series ("Wrong Text, Right Love"). I own but haven't yet read book #1, so I sometimes felt like I had missed something because I didn't have that background. I would therefore recommend reading the books in their intended order for maximum enjoyment.

Despite that small frustration, I really did love this charming, funny, and sweet story, which featured an excellent slow burn romance and a unique twist on the surprise pregnancy trope. I highly recommend "Didn't Expect You" for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy, and look forward to catching up on the series soon.

About "Didn't Expect You"

USA Today Bestselling author Claudia Burgoa brings you a fresh romantic comedy filled with an unexpected surprise, a wicked billionaire, and plenty of laughs.

The right life is the one you never see coming.

I had it all. The luxury apartment, hot dates, and the big office to go with long nights at the office.

Life was perfect.

But after a one-night stand, two little lines on a pregnancy test, and three lost legal cases later…

Well, overnight I went from career lawyer to single mom.

It’s okay, I can do it. I’m ready to face this alone until…

Along comes Nathaniel Chadwick. Billionaire adrenaline junky. Everyone’s favorite playboy… and my sister’s brother-in-law.

He’s as hot as he is jaded. When it comes to relationships and family, he’d rather jump off a cliff.

I wrote him off long ago, except since he learned about the baby he’s been by my side.

Is it pregnancy hormones or is there something real happening between us?

I didn’t expect any of this...most of all him.

***

Didn’t Expect You is a billionaire romance of unexpected pregnancies, exciting encounters, and flirty love. It includes a very confused dog, a precious newborn, and a family you might want to belong to. This chick-lit novel is a romantic comedy with a HEA guaranteed!

My Review

I loved Claudia Burgoa's "Didn't Expect You," a charming, funny, and sweet story that featured endearing characters, a well-crafted slow burn romance, and a unique twist on the surprise pregnancy trope. The flirty banter between main characters Nyx and Nate was a lot of fun, and their instant chemistry had me on the edge of my seat just waiting for them to finally give into their feelings. When they did, it was totally worth the wait. They both had commitment issues that posed a challenge to their eventual HEA, but Nate's were particularly troublesome. I really admired the fact that he took the time to go to therapy and work through those issues before pursuing a relationship with Nyx.

The secondary characters in this story were just as likeable as Nyx and Nate themselves, particularly Nyx's sister Persy and Nate's twin brother Ford, the couple featured in the first book of this series. I haven't yet read their story, but I will certainly be doing so in advance of the release of book #3! I also loved the crossover appearance by Pierce Aldridge from Burgoa's other ongoing series, the Baker's Creek Billionaire Brothers. I'm even more excited to read Pierce's story now than I was before!

I've only read a few of Claudia Burgoa's books so far, but she is quickly becoming a favorite author for me. I highly recommend "Didn't Expect You" for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy and look forward to her next release.
