Release Blitz + Review: "Ready to Run" by Jennifer Rebecca and Alyssa Kale

I'm thrilled to take part in the release blitz celebrating today's publication of "Ready to Run" by Jennifer Rebecca and Alyssa Kale, book #1 of the Sunnyville series.

Aspiring actress Bayleigh Hart had a massive crush on her best friend, veterinarian Archer Scott, for years, but had finally given up hope that he would ever see her as more than just a friend. She was a day away from marrying another man when she found evidence that her fiance was cheating on her. She didn't want to believe it, but by the time Bayleigh was halfway down the aisle, her doubts became too much to ignore. She put a stop to the wedding and Archer helped her flee from the ensuing disaster. In need of an escape, Bayleigh decided to travel to Bora Bora on what should have been her honeymoon, impulsively inviting Archer to join her. He agreed, not realizing at the time that he would be forced to share a bed with Bayleigh for the duration of the trip. How was he supposed to keep his hands off the woman he'd just realized he was in love with? His friendship with Bayleigh was too important to risk for a fling, which was all it could ever be when Archer's life was in Texas, while Bayleigh's career was just starting to take off in Hollywood.

Bayleigh and Archer were incredibly likeable lead characters, and I found it very easy to cheer them on to their HEA. They had a ton of chemistry, and I loved the way they bantered and teased each other. In addition, I completely understood their respective concerns about risking their friendship and the different paths their lives were on; however, I was somewhat frustrated by the fact that they avoided having a conversation about it for so long. They had plenty of opportunities to talk to each other but chose not to do so, instead assuming that they already knew what the other was thinking. Thankfully, Archer's sister Evan intervened and helped them work things out, but they easily could have missed out on the love of their lives because they were both so stubborn.

At any rate, I loved this funny, sweet story and highly recommend it for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy. I will definitely be picking up the next book in the series, which will feature Archer's delightfully snarky sister Evan.

About "Ready to Run"

Bayleigh Hart
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: Runaway Bride
I didn’t mean to. It just happened. I swear it. One minute, I was walking down the aisle, and the next, I was in Bora Bora with my bestie, Archer Scott. But this honeymoon isn’t in Vegas, and the feelings and naked parts we discovered aren’t going to stay there.

Archer Scott
RELATIONSHIP STATUS: In love with my best friend
I always thought I would have time to get closer to Bayleigh. That was until I was checking the Yes box on the RSVP for her wedding. One minute, she’s about to begin her life with Mr. Not Me, and the next, I’m dancing on a bar in a grass skirt. Fortunately, I’m a “grab the bull by the horns” kind of guy, so I go with it.
