Release Blitz + Review: "One Night Stand-In" by Lauren Blakely

Congratulations to Lauren Blakely on the release of her latest novel, "One Night Stand-In," the third and final book in the Boyfriend Material series. A full review is included at the end of this post, but in short, I adored this fast-paced, amusing, and sweet story and highly recommend it for both new and existing readers of Lauren Blakely's work. The main characters, Lola and Lucas, were incredibly likeable and totally perfect for each other, and I very much enjoyed cheering them on to their HEA.

About "One Night Stand-In"

Lucas Xavier is the last person I want to spend 24 hours with, let alone two minutes. Exes are exes for a reason. In his case, for a million reasons. Because he's not only an ex-lover, he's also an ex-friend. We didn't just break up - we combusted in a spectacular bonfire of barbs and doors slammed.

Nothing will change that. Not his clever wit, not his ridiculous good looks, not his unfair levels of charm. And definitely not a wild dash through the city that takes us on an accidental scavenger hunt through our past, where we stop for a tango lesson, pancakes and a visit with some llamas.

And certainly not time together to make amends and say we're sorry.

But, let's say that was enough...it's not like you can fall in love in 24 hours.

Indulge in the BOYFRIEND MATERIAL series! Three best friends. Three outrageous proposals. Three chances to fall in love. Three brand new standalones from Lauren Blakely! ONE NIGHT STAND-IN is a standalone romance in this series.

My Review

I adored Lauren Blakely's "One Night Stand-In," which featured likeable, well-developed characters and a fast-paced, engaging plot. I especially enjoyed the concept of a scavenger hunt forcing main characters Lola and Lucas to work together after nearly ten years as frenemies, and the witty banter that developed between them along the way.

From the beginning of the story, it was clear that there were a lot of unresolved feelings between Lola and Lucas. They used to be best friends and almost became more one night in college, but a botched attempt at a first date caused their relationship to fall apart completely. Lola resented the fact that Lucas never apologized for his actions back then, and Lucas seemed to believe that Lola didn't care as much about him as he cared about her. However, as they worked together on the clues to locate their younger siblings' possessions in the scavenger hunt set up by a revenge-seeking landlord, they came to see those past events and each other in a different light. With understanding came forgiveness and, finally, love, which I found to be incredibly satisfying because Lucas and Lola were so much fun together.

Overall, "One Night Stand-In" was an excellent conclusion to the Boyfriend Material series, and I look forward to reading whatever Ms. Blakely writes next!
