Release Blitz + Review: "The Dealmaker" by Jessica Peterson

I'm delighted to take part in today's release blitz celebrating "The Dealmaker" by Jessica Peterson, book #1 of the Sex & Bonds series.

Theo Morgan was a hotshot bond trader in New York City before accepting a new position with an investment firm in his hometown of Charlotte so that he could be closer to his recently widowed mother and younger sisters. He's now competing for the same promotion as longtime employee Nora Frasier, who's had to fight for recognition since her first day on the job. Not only was she at a disadvantage as a woman in a male-dominated field, the fact that her father, now retired, was an executive of the same firm gave many of her co-workers the false impression that she hadn't gotten the job on her own merits. Earning the promotion is the first step in Nora's plan to help create a more inclusive workplace culture, but it's equally important to Theo, who has been supporting his family financially for years. He'd like to get married and start his own family at some point, but that seems like an impossible dream when he's devoting so much of his time and income to his mother and sisters. Theo and Nora's competing interests create friction between them from the moment they meet, but there's also an undeniable spark of attraction. When they're forced to travel to California together to make nice with an important client, will that spark finally ignite?

There's so much to love about this story that I almost don't know where to begin! Theo was a fantastic cinnamon roll hero and I loved his sweet relationship with his mother and sisters, as well as the way his eyes were gradually opened to the difficulties Nora faced as a woman in the workplace. It not only made him respect her more, it made him think about his little sisters and the world they'd be facing as they finished school and entered the workforce. The author's descriptions of how Nora was treated, especially the double standards she faced, were absolutely spot on, and the complications they created in her relationship with Theo were realistic and relatable. The entire time, I was rooting for Nora to achieve her goals in regards to creating a more equitable workplace culture, and I adored Theo's staunch support of her efforts.

I highly recommend "The Dealmaker" for all fans of contemporary romance and romantic comedy and look forward to the next book in the series.

About "The Dealmaker"

An all-new, outrageously sexy enemies-to-lovers romantic comedy set in the high-stakes world of Wall Street.

The Dealmaker by Jessica Peterson is now live!

Hating and dating: I didn’t realize they’re two sides of the same coin until I met him. Theo Morgan.

One of Wall Street’s highest-paid traders, he may be hot as sin in his five-thousand-dollar custom-made suit. But Theo is the bane of my existence. He’s arrogant, rude, and as brash as they come.

As our bank’s newest star hire, he’s also after the same promotion I am. But I didn’t make it this far in a man’s world just to be passed over for an entitled egomaniac. Two can play at this game.

In a surprise to exactly no one, Theo and I butt heads from the beginning–and end up losing my biggest client with a trade gone bad. Our boss’s punishment: fly us to California together to make nice with the client—or else.

When a snowstorm back home leaves us stranded on the West Coast, we learn our hotel is fully booked, save for one room.

And of course that room would have only one king-sized bed. After a little too much wine, our deal to stick to opposite sides of that bed goes out the window. But on the flight home, my resolve to keep things professional remains intact, until Theo offers me a new deal.

The gloves (and clothes) can come off. But the lipstick stays on…
