When attorney Fitzhenry "Fitz" Everhart is approached by a new client who's acting suspiciously, he asks his older brother Harrison, the co-owner of a high intelligence security firm, to investigate. Harrison finds information that suggests the client may be connected to a criminal organization, so he assigns one of his employees to continue the investigation and keep Fitz safe. As a cover, Byron "Lang" Langdon will be working as a junior partner for Fitz's law firm and pretending to date Fitz to justify living with him to provide round-the-clock security. Fitz, understandably, is less than happy with the arrangement; he protests that he doesn't need a babysitter, much less someone who is more than a decade younger than him. It's not long before their mutual animosity turns into an unwilling attraction, but can Fitz and Lang overcome the baggage of their pasts to build a future together - while stopping a dangerous criminal at the same time?
Burgoa's books involving high intelligence security company The Organization are always fun, and this one was no exception. I really enjoyed the story's romantic suspense elements and the way the investigation into the criminal organization unfolded. As for the central enemies-to-lovers romance between Fitz and Lang, I was slightly less enthusiastic. They genuinely seemed to dislike each other at first, and IMO the leap to them becoming lovers seemed kind of abrupt. That said, they were both very likeable characters and I empathized with their respective baggage, particularly Lang's fear of rejection and Fitz's fear of loss. They finally found what they needed in each other and got the HEA they both deserved.
I recommend "Forever with Me" for all romantic suspense fans and look forward to Claudia Burgoa's next release.
