Release Blitz + Review: "The Romance Rehearsal" by Annie Dyer

I'm thrilled to join the release blitz celebrating "The Romance Rehearsal" by Annie Dyer, book #3 of the English Gent series. Characters from previous books in the series (as well as the earlier Callaghan Green series) make appearances in this one, but it works well as a standalone.

Twelve years ago, theater director Maven Green and actor Anthony Dewhurst had a summer fling while participating in a student workshop. She's now finalizing the casting for the first show she'll direct in London's West End, and Anthony is one of the top two contenders for the lead role. He's the best choice for the part, so she decides to cast him even though she knows it may be awkward for them to work together. Their relationship ended amicably, but Maven has never been able to forget Anthony even after all these years. He feels the same way about her, and as they get to know each other again, their old flame quickly reignites. Anthony's keeping a secret from Maven, however; when she finds out the truth, will their newly rekindled relationship survive?

I loved Anthony and Maven together immediately. It didn't take long for them to get past the initial awkwardness and discover that the chemistry between them was as strong as ever. The main complication involved Anthony's family, particularly his younger brother Will. Anthony was the eldest son of a viscount and therefore in line to inherit the title. Even though he was a successful actor, his choice of career had created friction within the family because they thought he should take more of an interest in managing the family estate. Will desperately wanted to inherit the title instead of Anthony, and while the situation was more complicated than I originally thought, I hated how entitled Will was and the pressure he put on Anthony to try and fix things for him.

I highly recommend "The Romance Rehearsal" for all contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series.

About "The Romance Rehearsal"

If the first time was a rehearsal, is this the real thing?

Directing a play in London’s West End was a lifelong dream, only I’m forced to share it with the same boy who broke my heart after being my first love and my first everything.

The last time I saw him, Anthony Dewhurst was all boy. But the Anthony I come face to face with now is all man—charismatic and devastatingly handsome, he’s the star of my new production, and my leading man – on stage, at least.

I’m determined to leave our chemistry where it belongs – firmly in the past, but Anthony is determined to be my leading man off stage too.

We’re not kids anymore, and my heart doesn’t think this is a rehearsal. Like all good love stories, the course isn’t going to run smooth, not when he’s carrying a secret that could destroy everything, including my heart – and his.

Was that summer romance a rehearsal for heart break, or a rehearsal for the real thing?
