Professional football player Davis Hall is celebrating his team's win at his favorite local bar when he meets aspiring country singer Maggie Webber, who's ready to drown her sorrows after a bad day. Though she's suspicious at first, she's eventually won over by his sincerity and charm, and a few shared drinks lead to a passionate night together. Weeks later, it's Christmas Eve and Davis is surprised to find Maggie at his door. She's come to share the news that she's pregnant - and Davis is the father. Davis and Maggie's story was very different from any of the other accidental pregnancy stories I've read, in a good way. The twists and turns kept me guessing right up until the end, and learning about Maggie's family situation broke my heart. I loved how fiercely protective Davis was of her even before he knew the full story, though I understood why she was so determined to maintain her independence. I think they found a good balance in the end, though it was sometimes a struggle getting there.
I highly recommend "Time Out" for all angsty/emotional contemporary romance readers and look forward to the next book in the series.
