Release Blitz + Review: "The Mrs. Degree" by Sara Ney

I'm thrilled to participate in the release blitz celebrating "The Mrs. Degree" by Sara Ney, book #2 of the Accidentally in Love series. Characters from the previous book make cameo appearances in this one, but it reads as a standalone.

Penelope Halbrook and Jack "Skip" Jennings were college sweethearts, but when Penelope found out she was pregnant shortly before Jack was drafted into the NFL, she panicked and ghosted him. Years later, Jack is in Chicago for a game and decides to stop by Penelope's brother Davis's house to see if he can track down his former girlfriend. He's been having strange dreams about her, and his agent thinks getting closure on their relationship might help put them to rest. Instead, Jack's life is changed forever when he learns that he has a 7-year-old daughter named Skipper. Even though he's upset with Penelope for hiding the truth from him, Jack is determined to make up for lost time with his little girl, and in the process realizes that his feelings for Penelope are as strong as ever. Can he convince her that they're meant to be a family?

I very much enjoyed this super cute, funny, and sweet story. There was still a ton of chemistry between Penelope and Jack even after so many years apart, but I loved that they took the time to get to know each other again before jumping back into a relationship. Further, Skipper was an adorable scene-stealer and I loved her interactions with Jack. Finally, I really appreciated that Penelope owned up to the mistakes she'd made and the consequences of her actions in leaving Jack without telling him about her pregnancy. She admitted that she didn't really have a good excuse for her behavior; basically, she panicked and ran away instead of dealing with the situation. Fortunately, she and Jack were able to work through everything that had happened back then and more forward with a clean slate.

I highly recommend "The Mrs. Degree" for fans of contemporary/sports romance and romantic comedy and look forward to the next book in the series.

About "The Mrs. Degree"

From USA TODAY bestselling author Sara Ney comes a new series about strong, single girls falling in love: accidentally.

I never thought I would get pregnant in college.

When I did, I thought leaving Jack Jennings was doing him a giant favor—he had a bright future ahead of him as a football star—the last thing he needed was me and a baby standing in his way of his dreams.

Honestly? I figured he would eventually forget about me.
I would raise our child in secret and watch Jack on television, and the pain of what I’d done to him would heal.
The last person I expected to see on my brothers doorstep seven years later was Jack; obviously, or I wouldn’t have answered it.
A superstitious athlete, dreams were keeping him awake at night that were preventing him from excelling on the field—dreams he was hoping I could make…disappear.
He looked so good. So much older.
Kind. Handsome.
Turns out, he hadn’t forgotten about me either, and he hadn’t put our past behind him.
