Six months after going through devastating breakups, pediatrician Jace McCallister and veterinarian Destiny Compton were struggling to move on with their lives. In the hopes that a vacation would help clear their heads, they each decided to travel to the Caribbean for some rest and relaxation. By coincidence, they were seated next to each other on the plane and spent the entire flight talking, but left the airport without exchanging contact information. A few hours later, Destiny and Jace were surprised to learn that they would be staying in neighboring bungalows at the same resort, and their intense attraction turned into a vacation fling. Unfortunately, just when it started to seem as if their fling had the potential to turn into something real, baggage from their previous relationships drove them apart. Would Jace and Destiny be able to get past their fears in order to build a future together?
There were a number of things I really liked about this book, particularly the steamy chemistry between Jace and Destiny and their cute habit of having conversations through taco sauce lids with sayings on them. That said, I sometimes found it difficult to believe the sheer number of coincidences in the story, especially when it came to the events in Florida. In addition, I was somewhat confused by the book's timeline because of the way Jace and Destiny kept changing their travel plans. Finally, the book's ending felt rushed to me. Literally from one page to the next, it jumped from them agreeing to give dating a try to talking about moving in together three months later.
Overall, "Doctor Arrogance" was a fast-paced, spicy read featuring likeable protagonists, but it was sometimes tough for me to get past the story's various inconsistencies and incredible coincidences. That said, I'd still recommend it and pick up another one of the author's books in the future.
