I'm excited to join today's release blitz celebrating "Tasty Mango" by JJ Knight. It's set in the same world as the Single Dad on Top duet and the Pickle Family series, though it is intended to be read as a standalone. IMO, readers who have already read at least "Spicy Pickle" are likely to enjoy this book the most.
Havannah Boudreaux was thrilled to be going out on a first date with billionaire Donovan McDonald, on whom she'd had a crush for months. Unfortunately, not long after they sat down to dinner in a lovely formal restaurant, she started to feel a bit strange: her water had broken, and the single mom-to-be was in active labor. Things moved very quickly after that, but it's safe to say that the date was a memorable one for both Havannah and Donovan (not to mention their limo driver and his newly cleaned seats).
Surprisingly enough, Donovan wasn't scared off by the dramatic end to their first date. Instead, he was very sweet with both Havannah and the baby, accepting that they were a package deal and trying to help out where he could. (The scene in which he tried to change a diaper for the first time and had to call his brother, an experienced dad, for help was hilarious!) The actual romance was kind of like a fairy tale because of the way Donovan came in and swept Havannah and baby Rebel off to France aboard a private plane, where they stayed in an actual castle. I enjoyed their banter and chemistry, as well as how supportive Donovan always was of Havannah. Her family (with the exception of her sister Magnolia) often seemed overly judgmental, though they did step up to help with childcare when she needed it.

The main reason I rated this book 4 stars instead of 5 is that I felt like it was missing a lot of background information on the main characters, possibly because I haven't read many of the author's earlier books yet. For example, it was never clear to me exactly how Havannah and Donovan met, other than that it was during some kind of mentorship program that apparently happened during her sister's book ("Spicy Pickle"). Also, there were a number of references to a "bad patch" Havannah went through before she got pregnant, but no explanation of exactly what the bad patch entailed or what caused it. Finally, there were a number of vague references to Donovan's rough childhood and previously strained relationship with his brother Dell, but not a lot of detail.
Overall, I enjoyed "Tasty Mango," but I probably would have enjoyed it more if I were familiar with the author's backlist. I'd still recommend it for romantic comedy fans and look forward to picking up more of this author's books in the future.

About "Tasty Mango"
Ladies, you’ve never had a first date quite like this.
He’s a billionaire.
Desperately handsome
Wildly charismatic.
In fact, a certain article of clothing of mine has gotten quite damp.
Except…
It’s not the good kind of damp.
Actually, I’m suddenly very, very wet.
Oh no.
I’ve left out something important.
I’m nine months pregnant.
Don’t ask about the father.
I’d rather forget.
But I’m sitting in the fanciest restaurant you can imagine.
Opposite the man of my dreams.
It’s our first time alone together.
The start of something spectacular.
And…
My water just broke.

I’ve always pictured this moment.
Me, in a little black dress.
My hair swept into a perfect chignon.
An exclusive restaurant filled with elegant diners.
China clinks. Crystal glasses gleam on linen tablecloths.
Seated opposite me is the ideal man. Tall, dark, handsome.
Custom suit. Gold cufflinks.
He’s charming and witty.
Wildly successful in business.
And he only has eyes for me.
It could have been the greatest first date of my life.
Except.
My belly is too big to let me pull up to the table properly.
The baby is kicking like crazy for me to eat something — NOW.
And a funny trickle of wetness is forming deep in the recesses of my panties.
And not the good kind.
Am I peeing myself?
“Havannah, are you okay?” Donovan McDonald pauses, his water goblet halfway to his lips. He’s a gentleman, so he’s not drinking wine since I can’t.
His eyes are on me, his thick brows knitted in concern. His gaze dips to the table’s edge, where I’m hunched, trying to hide my bump. I’m desperately trying to appear like a normal date from the chest up.
“Perfect!” I say, keeping my voice as chipper as possible. I shift on the chair, making sure my legs are hidden by the tablecloth. I spread my knees in hopes that I can air dry.
Pregnancy is a beast.
But I have a few days to go until I’m due, and I hear first babies are always late. I’ve vowed to be nothing but chic and put together on this date. He’ll see my elegance, my poise —
Uh oh.
Another squirt of wetness slips out.
How can this be? I peed right before I came. I’m not coughing, or laughing too hard, or sneezing.
I push my cloth napkin under the tablecloth and shove it up under my dress. Sorry, fancy restaurant. I’m stealing this. It’s an emergency.
To be honest, if I had known what was about to go down, I would have left right then.
But I didn’t.
And you’re not going to believe what happens next.
