Release Blitz + Review: "Flame" by Adriana Locke

I'm excited to take part in the release blitz celebrating "Flame" by Adriana Locke, book #5 of the Carmichael Family series. Characters from the previous books in the series (as well as "The Proposal," book #1 of the Brewer Family series) make appearances in this one, but it reads as a standalone.

Six months ago, Foxx Carmichael suddenly requested a transfer from Bianca Brewer's personal security detail. His feelings for her had started to cross the line from professional to personal, and he couldn't let his lack of objectivity affect her safety or his friendship with her older brother, Jason. Now, she's in his hometown of Kismet Beach, FL in search of answers about why he left so abruptly, and maybe even to pick up where they left off. But answers aren't the only thing Bianca needs from Foxx; there's a potential threat to Bianca's safety from her father, who's been on a rampage ever since her mother filed for divorce and replaced him with Bianca as head of the family business. Her brother suggests that Bianca lay low until the threat is neutralized and Foxx impulsively volunteers to let her stay with him. Despite the close proximity, Foxx vows to resist the pull of his attraction to Bianca - until he learns the details of her father's latest scheme and realizes that the best way to protect her is by marrying her.

I've really enjoyed the bits and pieces we've learned about Foxx in the books leading up to this one, but he proved to be an even more complex and endearing character than I could have predicted. It took finding the right woman for him to finally let down his walls, and I loved the way Bianca brought out a softer, more playful side of him. He was still tough and protective when he needed to be, but he just melted for Bianca. Their chemistry was absolute FIRE, but I also loved how easily Bianca fit into Foxx's family. Her relationship with her brothers was a lot of fun, too; I particularly enjoyed her interactions with Jason and can't wait to read his story next.

Overall, I adored this funny, sweet, and heartfelt story and highly recommend it for all steamy contemporary romance fans. I'm really going to miss spending time with the Carmichael family, but hopefully we'll see them again in future stories.

About "Flame"

RSVP to my Marriage of Convenience

I swore I would only get married if my life depended on it. Oh, the irony.

Many things have happened over the last few weeks that I didn’t see coming. My family imploded. Our business was turned upside down. And someone threatened to harm me if I didn’t make good on my father’s promises.

But the biggest thing I didn’t see coming?

Foxx Carmichael demanding marriage.

He’s doing it out of loyalty to my brother. I know that. But I can’t help but think if, through that deliciously hot, grumpy exterior, my bodyguard doesn’t have ulterior motives.

There’s no denying the fire in his touch or the heat in his blue eyes. He protects me with a ferocity that leaves me breathless. He makes me rethink many things I thought I knew for sure—like my position on marriage.

But how we dance around our fake relationship makes me wonder what part of this is pretend. None of it matters if he doesn’t admit he feels the same way.

Our sham wedding will fall apart as soon as the threat is contained. But what happens if the flames between us burn everything to the ground first?
