Release Blitz + Review: "Defying Our Forever" by Claudia Burgoa

I am thrilled to participate in the blog tour celebrating the release of "Defying Our Forever" by Claudia Burgoa, book #3 of the Baker's Creek Billionaire Brothers series. It also includes appearances by characters from "Didn't Expect You," book #2 of Burgoa's Against All Odds series. The book still reads as a standalone, but there is some overlapping of timelines, so I'm glad to have read the books in their publication order.

"Defying Our Forever" was an excellent second chance romance between main characters Pierce and Leyla Aldridge. The first part of the book tells the story of how they met, fell in love, and got married, which was surprisingly uneventful considering the amount of childhood baggage they each carried. The circumstances that led to their estrangement were completely heartbreaking, however, especially for Leyla because all she wanted was love and a family of her own. It was easy to understand why Leyla was so angry with Pierce in the earlier books of the series! 

 

I already liked Pierce and Leyla from their appearances in the first two books of the series, but learning the truth of their respective backgrounds and childhood experiences made them even more likeable and sympathetic to me. They both went through so much, and the families that raised them were truly awful. I loved watching Pierce and Leyla fight to find their way back to each other. They took things slowly and did the work that was necessary to build a strong foundation, and the way they came together to create a found family with Pierce's half brothers and sisters-in-law was truly lovely.
 

In sum, "Defying Our Forever" gave me all the feels and I completely adored it. I highly recommend this book for all fans of emotional contemporary romance and can't wait to get my hands on the next book of the series!
