Release Blitz + Review: "What the Puck?" by Crystal Perkins

I'm pleased to take part in the release blitz celebrating "What the Puck?" by Crystal Perkins, book #2 of the Metros Hockey series. Characters from the previous book play supporting roles in this one, but it reads as a standalone.

As Neal "Rock" Roquemore's personal assistant, Diana is used to spending lots of time around professional hockey players. She'd even call several of them her friends. What she won't do is date one ever again after her hockey-playing ex-boyfriend broke her heart and destroyed her trust in men. Rock's teammate and future brother-in-law, Seti Redlin, is not one of the players Diana would consider a friend - in fact, he drives her crazy with his constant teasing - but when she learns that an overzealous fan might be stalking him, she can't help reaching out to warn him. Diana doesn't realize it, but Seti's teasing is actually covering up an intense attraction towards her, and he's determined to get her to change her mind about dating him. Asking her for help with the stalker situation gives him exactly the excuse he needs to get closer to Diana, but can Seti convince her to give him a shot?

I really liked that Seti let Diana set the pace in their relationship, and it was kind of adorable how slow they took things at first. There was a lot of hand holding and cuddling on the couch while they watched TV. However, I didn't understand why Seti was so hesitant to share certain things about himself with Diana, particularly the fact that he enjoyed cooking. His behavior made it seem as if he was doing something illegal when in fact it was a completely innocent hobby. Finally, I wish there had been a bit more shared about Diana's family of con artists and how she grew up. Her background seemed so interesting and I would have liked to know more about it.

Despite those few minor annoyances, I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it for all fans of contemporary/sports romance. I look forward to the next book in the series.

About "What the Puck?"

From author Crystal Perkins comes a brand-new stand alone, enemies to lovers romance novel set in her Metros Hockey Series.

SETI
I've been pursued by women during my time as a professional hockey player, but I never expected what's happening to me now. A sweet looking grandma is following me everywhere and it's getting a little scary. So scary I have to hire an undercover bodyguard, and ask for help from someone who hates me. Diana and I got off on the wrong foot, and I keep putting that foot in my mouth over and over again.

DIANA
Seti Redlin has been a thorn in my side since we met. I tolerate him because he's my boss' friend, but I want to stab him most days. Or kiss him. But, I can't do either. What I can do is help him avoid his stalker and her friends. That's all this is. Just helping him out. He's a hockey player and I know better than to get involved with one of those again.

Innocent touches during late night strategy sessions lead to steamy kisses and unexpected feelings. But is it enough for them both to trust that what they have is real and not just part of the game?
