The Mistletoe Bet by Maren Moore
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Marketing executive Quinn Scott's Christmas spirit went out the window right around the time of her parents' acrimonious divorce, so she's not exactly happy to be back home in the small town of Strawberry Hollow for the holidays. Determined to put the past behind them, Quinn's mother has planned a week-long celebration for the entire family - even her father and his new wife - and Quinn's convinced it's going to be a disaster. Things take a turn when she runs into her brother Owen's best friend, Dr. Parker Grant, and they share an unexpectedly steamy kiss under the mistletoe. Unlike Quinn, Parker loves Christmas, and he hates that his old friend has turned into such a grinch. He bets Quinn that he can make her love the holidays again by the end of her visit, and if he fails, he'll take her place as an elf in the Christmas musical her mom's organizing - green tights and all. It's not long before Quinn's old crush on Parker is reawakened as he attempts to remind her of the joy and fun of the festive season, but she can't let either of them forget that her time in Strawberry Hollow is only temporary. Is there hope for their relationship after the week is over?
"The Mistletoe Bet" was a fun, funny, and perfectly steamy story sure to put readers in the holiday spirit. Parker and Quinn were adorably flirty and playful together; I particularly loved the way he teased her and she turned around and teased him right back. In addition, they had a ton of chemistry and the steamy scenes were absolute fire. I had a blast cheering them on to their HEA. (The cameo from Emery and Graham, lead characters of Moore's Scoring to Win duet, was also a delightful surprise.)
I highly recommend this novella for all contemporary romance and romantic comedy fans. Hopefully this is just the first of many visits to Strawberry Hollow!
